David Lee Goodwin

David Lee Goodwin, 69 years old, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on July 5, 2023. David was born on October 28, 1953, and was the son of the late Walter Leroy Jackson Goodwin and Earsley "Peggy" Cipriani Goodwin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Austin; and half-brother, Douglas Goodwin. David was married to his wife of 28 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Matherly Goodwin.

David was born in Richmond, but grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. His career as a Hydraulic Specialist/Service Technician spanned over 30 years. He obtained his high school diploma from Mainland High School, in Daytona Beach.

David will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He loved to fish, restore cars, had a talent of carpentry and his love for the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the residence; sons, Jason David Goodwin of Louisa, and Joseph Robert Rice of Hampton; daughter, Chrystal Rice Southworth (Scott) of Caroline County; grandsons, Taylor Francis David Goodwin, and Michael Scott Southworth; granddaughter, Whitney Morgan (Ryan); brother, Steven Goodwin (Rosie) of Richmond; many cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and his furry companion, Sue-Sue.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends additionally at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the funeral home with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
