It is with profound sorrow and enduring love that we announce the passing of David Ryan Klimek, on January 1, 2024, at age 74. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. His life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, dedication, and love of the community where he grew up and resided. He was born in 1949, to George and Geraldine Klimek, in Prince George County, where he graduated from high school in 1967. David later graduated from Richard Blande College, with an associate's degree, before entering the Air Force, where he served honorably overseas for over 4 years. He derived purpose in serving those around him, both personally and through the business that carried his name. Klimek Heating and Air was started in 1981, and the humble business lasted 41 years, right up until his passing. He knew many friends during his time in business and enjoyed and appreciated them all. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family. David faced a prolonged battle with kidney disease, and for five and a half years fought with resilience and perseverance. Though his body failed his spirit remained unbroken, as he was an eternal optimist. In his spare moments David loved the solitude of a good project, being in the outdoors, especially on water or at the beach. He was an avid fisherman and spent many days with his friends catching big ones and citations. You could often catch him taking in a baseball game, coaching sports, watching his grandchildren in their activities or just enjoying a good drink in the company of close friends and family. In his legacy he leaves behind a wife of 47 years, Kathy Klimek, whom he loved to travel with; two sons, Ryan A. Klimek and his wife, Ashley, and Mark Klimek; and grandchildren, Andrew C. Klimek, Jackson R. Klimek, M. Gavin Klimek, Owen P. Klimek, and Bella Hope Klimek. While predeceased by his brother, Tommy; he leaves behind four long loved siblings, Dennis Klimek, of Michigan, Rebecca Hudgins, of Hopewell, Danny Klimek, of Colonial Heights, and Douglas Klimek, of Tennessee. A private memorial will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers donations to The National Kidney Foundation may be made in his honor.
