David was raised on a tobacco farm in Lunenburg, VA. His love of farming and stories of “The Old Place” were shared with his children and grandchildren through the years of his life. After years of working at the Seaboard, American Tobacco and Philip Morris, David retired in 1992. He spent much of his retirement gardening, taking day trips with his late Father and caring for his grandchildren, Andrew “Little Fella” and Mariah “Doo.” Mariah was the apple of his eye and the love of his life. During his final moments, Mariah whispered she loved him and that he could watch over her from heaven. With those comforting words and a smile on his face, he peacefully parted this life.
