David Lee Scearce gained his wings on October 31, 2021. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, he leaves behind his precious children, Joshua, Cheyenne, Halie, Ariel (and her mother, Natalie), and Gideon (and his mother, Belle Simpson); three grandchildren; his brother and best friend, Mike Scearce, Sr.; brother, Paul Aaron Scearce, loving mother and step-father, Patsy Riddle (Danny); grandmothers, Annette Friedhoff and Jean Lett; aunts, Debbie Smotrys (Frank), Diane Burns, Renee McDaniels (Bryan), JoAnn Pearson (Sonny); step-sister, Kristen Rhodenizer (Brian); nephews and nieces, Amanda Fields, Nikole Canales, Michael, Jr. (Roxanne), Drake and Jessica Scearce; and numerous cousins.
David was preceded in death by his father, Joe Scearce, Jr.; his Papa Flat Top, Ronnie Lett; his Gran, Larry Friedhoff; and his dad’s parents, Cordie and Joe Scearce, Sr.
David loved his Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, and Michigan Wolverines Football. While in the hospital, the nurses would come and shut his door because he was rooting too loudly for his teams – that’s my son, LOL. David loved life and his family. He is also survived by his special friends, Joe Frye, Daniel Johnson, and Shawn Ray. We know David is raising hell with Sam Shelton and Yusuf Moore - two friends that have passed before him.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the medical team and nurses at VCU for the care they gave to David. The family would also like to thank Ashley Devine for the love and support she’s given to the family.
David will be missed by all who loved him. Love you my son, Momma
