Mr. David Linwood Warren, Jr., 80, of Prince George, VA, died peacefully in his home on December 19, 2022.
Mr. Warren was born 1942, in Petersburg, VA. He was the son of the late David Linwood Warren, Sr. and the late Dorothy Hawks Carter. "Sonny", as he was known to his family and friends, grew up in Prince George, VA, where he graduated from Prince George High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Brady Warren, in June of 1964. Following the ceremony, the couple honeymooned in Myrtle Beach, SC.
After attending one year at RPI, Mr. Warren attended Virginia Tech and graduated in 1967 with a civil engineering degree. He returned to his hometown of Prince George and was employed at E.I Dupont Corporation until he retired in 2000.
Over the years, Mr. Warren enjoyed traveling with his wife on cruises or to various destinations. Most recently, he traveled with his family to Myrtle Beach, a yearly favorite, summertime destination.
As a long-time, dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Disputanta, Mr. Warren taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. In his spare time, Mr. Warren enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching westerns & the Food Channel, and experimenting with recipes since he was a great cook himself. "Sonny" was a member of the Centennial Road Hunt Club where he enjoyed spending time with his hunting friends and most recently, celebrating his 80th birthday. He was also a member of the Devil's Garden Hunt Club in Disputanta, VA.
Mr. Warren is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Brady Warren; his daughter, Staci Anne Warren of Chesterfield; and his son, David Linwood Warren, III of Prince George. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Warren Akins (Dickie) of Arcadia, Florida, and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas Earl Carter and Gary Lee Carter.
A funeral service will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg Chapel, (103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, VA 23803) on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, the interment will be at Southlawn Memorial Park (1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, VA 23805). A visitation before the service will begin at noon.
