Dayton Dewayne Garrett Jr.

Dayton Dewayne Garrett, Jr., 49, of Church Road, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015. He was preceded in death by his son, William Samuel Paul Garrett. Dayton was born in Petersburg, VA. He was employed with Virginia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Ford Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Dayton was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting. Most importantly, he loved being a devoted father. He is survived by his parents, Dayton D. Garrett, Sr. and Anne Jones Garrett; brother, Steven Garrett and his wife, Janet; niece, Alexandra Garrett; and numerous other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James G. O’Quinn, officiating. Visitation will immediately follow until 8:30 p.m. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Southlawn Memorial Park.
