Deborah Ann Bice

February 12, 1956 — December 25, 2015

Deborah Ann Bice, 59, of Petersburg died Friday, December 25, 2015. She was born in New Jersey, the daughter of the late William Stanley and Patricia Strawn Bice. Deb loved photography and especially enjoyed photographing nature, winning several prizes at state fairs. Her second love, history, was a life-long study that enabled her to earn an AAS degree from Richard Bland College. Deb spent most of her working life in service to others, her 13-year stint with Sprint was typical: starting first as a telephone operator she was promoted to relay specialist--working with the hearing impaired through a keyboard link. Several firms employed her as a customer service representative; Deb was Domino’s CSR of the year for 1986 and 1987. Deb was a faithful and active member of the Lutheran Church or Our Redeemer (LCOR) where she served as Parish Planning Council Vice-President, a member of the Social Ministry committee and lay representative for the Walnut Hill Churches and Synagogue Organization. Deb used her love and skill of photography to photograph many church activities and submitted them for publication in the Progress Index. Her presence and gifts will be greatly missed at LCOR. She is survived by her brother, William S. Bice, Jr. and his wife Kimberly; a niece, Courtney Bice; seven nephews, William, Gregory, Thomas, Andrew, Zachary, Jordan and Noah Bice; six step-siblings, Sam Boggs, Jenny, Molly, Stella, Amy and Jake Freeman; and a step-mother, Joan Bice. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1769 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, VA, 23805.
