Deems Gillis Lowder

Deems Gillis Lowder, 78, of Hopewell, VA, passed away of a heart attack at home, on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Harold and Evelyn Adelia McChesney; sister, Roberta Lynn Blackburn; grandson, Christopher Hall. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary-Ellen; daughter, Jennifer Hall; stepson, Thomas Sawyer ; grandson, Michael White and granddaughter, Katie Hall. He was a 1961 graduate of Hopewell High School and honorably served in the United States Navy. Deems was a member of the IATSE National and Teamsters. He loved cats, music, motorcycles, and Legend Brews. Deems will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and loving husband. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
