Deloris “Lois” Brown Sprouse, 81, of Petersburg, VA died on August 23, 2016. She was born on January 5, 1935 to the late Robert and Ruth Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Howard “Lou” Sprouse, Sr.; her son, Howard “Will” Sprouse, Jr., her sister, Catherine B. Wells; her brothers, Rudy and Tommy Brown and her close friend Jerry Flowers. She retired from the Country Club of Petersburg in 1997. She loved baseball, cooking, and especially animals. Over the years, she had loved and fed hundreds of cats. Her greatest gift was loving and caring about people. Over the years, she had adopted, as she would say, anyone she thought needed a family. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy S. Banton; grandsons, Randy “RJ” Banton and Brett Banton; son-in-law, Randy W. Banton, Sr.; nieces, Kathy Cantrell and Linda Schnell; nephews, Wilfred Wells, Keith and Kenny Brown. Adopted family: daughters, Edith Briggs, Jeri-Ann Tomlin (Billy) and Stephanie Early (Keith); granddaughters, Jessica Briggs and Kaitlyn Tomlin; godsons, Brad and Chad Eilert, Shane and Brandon Tomlin, and Michael Briggs. Best friends: Diane Flowers and Steve and Melody Eilert. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Irshad Ahmed, Linda and Loretta for the care shown to her the past 11 years. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
