Dennis Walter Knaack

Dennis Walter Knaack, 85, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully at Chesapeake Regional hospital on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 with his family at his side.
He was born on July 26, 1936, in Chicago, to Walter E. Knaack and Mary Knaack.
Dennis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; his son, Kevin and his wife, Molly, of Virginia Beach, VA; and his daughter, Emily Knaack of Chester, VA. He will be missed by his grandchildren who he loved dearly, Matthew Hawkins, of Chester, and Zane and Harper Grace, of Virginia Beach.
He also leaves behind a brother, Steve and his wife, Diane of Allen, TX; and a sister, Cynthia of Rock Hill, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In his early years he worked as a grocery store manager. He went on to attend Ball State University and majored in accounting. He spent his working years in accounting as a CPA. He retired after many years from the Albemarle Corporation as a Corporate Auditor. Dennis loved to travel, and his job allowed him to see many parts of the world.
He was an active member of Chester United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Chester United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.
