Dennis John Yanzick, Sr.

October 15, 1956 — February 7, 2023

Dennis John Yanzick, Sr., was born in Walla Walla, WA, and spent his years growing up in Portland, OR. Dennis died on February 7, 2023, at the age of 66 in Chesterfield, VA. He was the loving son of late Alvin and Elizabeth Yanzick. Dennis had the biggest heart and always put others before himself. It didn't matter if you were a stranger or close family or friend, he would try and put a smile on your face with a story or song. Dennis attended St. Rose Catholic school and graduated from Grant High School in Portland, OR, where he played football and wrestled. Dennis also attended Mt. Hood Community College where he was pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a carpenter by trade and worked on many notable projects throughout the pacific northwest, the Portland Rose Garden, OHSU, and the Bonneville Dam, which was his personal favorite.

Dennis was an avid outdoorsman who loved skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, camping, boxing, bull riding, horseback riding, playing tennis, and gardening. He also made it his life mission to tackle the blackberry bush problem in Washougal, WA. His pride and joy were his three children. He is survived by his two daughters, Jessica Favreau and spouse, Jamie, and Tiffany Rodriguez and spouse, Phillip; his son, Dennis Yanzick, Jr.; and the love of his life, Janet Yanzick. Also, his grandchildren, Emma Brown, Adam Brown, Cody Favreau, Sunny Favreau, Melbie Favreau, and Bailey Favreau; brothers, Steve Yanzick and James Yanzick; sisters, Kathy Yanzick, Barb Yanzick, and Susie Yanzick; along with many nieces and nephews who he loved so much. Family meant everything to Dennis. He was proceeded in death by his father, Alvin Yanzick; his mother, Elizabeth Yanzick; and his granddaughter, Chelsea Favreau. Dennis was a devoted father, grandfather, a great friend to all and a true child of God. In lieu of flowers you can make donations in his memory to either the Boston University CTE Center at Give Now ' CTE Center (bu.edu) or Give Hope to Kids at Give - GIVE HOPE 2 KIDS.

Dennis wanted everyone to know one last thing, "Dirty is purdy!"
