Desmer Allen

Desmer Rogers Allen, 88, of Hopewell, VA died Friday, May 26, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. She is the widow of Henry M. Allen, Sr. She was born in Murphy, NC. Mrs. Allen was a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church and served as president of W.M.U. for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Bassie R. & Amanda Styles Rogers, a daughter, Barbara Caldwell. Mrs. Allen is survived by four daughters, Ella Jane Schwartz of St. Louis, MO, Millie Ann Martin of Charleston, SC, Rose Marie Harrison of Dinwiddie, VA, Deborah Kay King of Hopewell, two sons, Henry Milton Allen, Jr. of Bessemer City, NC, and J. Robert Allen of Richmond, VA, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, two sisters, Frances Nichols of Gastonia, NC, Grace Clonts of Murphy, NC, and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Allen of Chapin, SC and Janet Allen of Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 2:00 PM in Powers Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Rogers, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield County. Memorial contributions may be made to Powers Memorial Baptist Church Missions Fund.
