Dixie Lee Jones Friend, 77, of Enon, VA gracefully passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Vaught Grubb; her fathers, Luther Jones, who passed away before she was born and Warren Grubb who loved and raised her as his own. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. Dixie Lee was a member of the Rivermont Presbyterian Church in Enon, VA, and was also a member of the Jackson Chapel in Wytheville, VA. Dixie possessed a strong faith in God that gave her extraordinary grace and strength. She was soft spoken, generous and compassionate. Her home provided a place of refuge and comfort to all who entered. Dixie shared her love for country music, crafting, cooking, the mountains and snow with all her family and friends. She always put others’ needs before her own and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dixie exemplified Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.” Dixie is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Jim/Kenneth; three children, Donita King (Warren), Kim Wade and Jeff Friend (Vicki); six grandchildren, Amanda, Melisa, Carrie, Nathan, Izabella and Ella-Grace; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Nev and Tatum; two sisters, Scarlett and Barbara, and one brother, T.W.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends who were like family. A private service was held at J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Dixie Lee was laid to rest at Bermuda Memorial Park.
