"Dolly" Velma Robinette, 81, of Prince George, Virginia, passed away on February 28, 2025, surrounded by many who loved her. Born in Scott County, VA, to parents, Willie and Minnie Shepherd. Dolly was raised in Carfax, Virginia, between the railroad and the river. She spent the majority of her adult life in Hopewell, Virginia, where she raised her daughters, Joy and Lorie, with her beloved husband, Eddie Robinette. She was a hardworking woman who worked many jobs throughout the years including work at Allied Chemical, Reynolds Metal Operator, and Manager at 7-11 (where she won multiple awards for how she managed the store). Dolly is known for her heart of gold and generosity to all those she loved, and strangers alike. Dolly was a humble woman of God and member of City Point Restoration Church. She loved the scripture "blessed are the peacemakers" Matthew 5:9. She spread the love of Jesus through her big heart, volunteering efforts, ministry as a Sunday School Teacher, and daily acts of kindness to all those around her. Dolly loved reading, journaling, puzzles of all kinds, embroidery, going to church, listening to worship music, and watching her survival shows and soaps. Her most meaningful moments in life were spent making memories and caring for her family and loved ones.
Dolly was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Minnie Shepherd; husband, Eddie Robinette; daughter, Joy Robinette; and siblings, Esabell Shepherd, Arlene Jessee, Nannie Scarberry, Kenneth Shepherd, James Shepherd, Helen Scarberry, Alice McCarty, Lorraine McKnight, Peggy Hammonds, CJ Shepherd, and William Shepherd.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorie Edwards and her husband, Rodney Edwards; granddaughters, Victoria Edwards and Brittany Edwards (Logan); brother, Leon Shepherd; chosen family, Teresa Rudder, Tanya Collier, and Renee Eagan; her chosen grandsons, Brayden, Zaedyn, and Jaylin; and many other extended and chosen family from over the years. Dolly's biggest legacy is her listening ear, open arms, and her hands that guided and loved so many over the years.
A visitation will be held at 1pm, followed by a funeral service at 2pm, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev.
