Donald Bayford, 82, of Gloucester, VA, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his residence. Born in Staplehurst, Kent, England, he was the son of the late Charles Alfred and Maude James Bayford. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bayford, Jr., who was killed in action during World War II, and two sisters, Maude Geraghty and Violet Sigmund. Mr. Bayford served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a British citizen on the path to U.S. citizenship. He was a well-respected salesman in the water systems industry and led a very active life. Mr. Bayford was an avid fisherman and member of the Virginia Beach Anglers Club. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed family gatherings of any kind. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Bayford; sons, Dave Bayford and his wife Kim, and Brian Bayford and his wife Dorothy, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren plus three on the way, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.
