Donald Lee "Duck" Cleveland, 78, of Chester, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Willie Porter Cleveland and Betty Florine Curry Jackson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Cleveland Henry.
He is survived by his son, Jacob Cleveland (Brandy); daughter, Mary Baumgartner (Steve); ex-wife and best friend, Gwen Cleveland; grandchildren, Savannah Baumgartner, Conner Man Cleveland, Camryn Cleveland, Andersen Baumgartner, Aspen Baumgartner, Brandon Chase, Steven Baumgartner III, Austin Baumgartner, and Angela Ryan; brothers, Roy "Buddy" Cleveland (Jenny), and Stephen "Scooter" Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Duck was employed with Allied Chemical in Chesterfield, retiring after 43 years. He enjoyed staying active and living life to the fullest. He was kind to others and had an unmatched sense of humor. Duck enjoyed sports and rooting for the Washington Redskins, UVA, and Hopewell High School basketball and football teams. He loved to dance especially shag dancing. He will forever be remembered as a compassionate person who loved his family.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss Son Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the American Legion Post 146, Hopewell, VA.
