Donald Lee Green

June 4, 1952 — June 20, 2016

It is with deep and heavy sadness that Donald L. Green, 64, affectionately known as Donnie by family and friends, of Dinwiddie, passed in peace at his home on Monday, June 20, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Freddie Green. For 42 years Donnie worked at DuPont and decided to retire to spend time with his family. During his early years, Donnie coached little league baseball in Colonial Heights as well as being a volunteer EMT for Ettrick/Matoaca Volunteer Rescue Squad and Southside Rescue Squad. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Sandi Green; son, Donald L. Green, Jr.; daughter, Michelle Stern and son-in-law, Shawn Stern; two grandchildren, Patrick Moore and Tayler Stern, who he loved and adored; brother, Will Green and wife, Leigh; sister, Louise Blount and husband, David; niece, Kelly Blount; nephew, Will Blount; along with numerous friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 18971 Carson Rd., Dinwiddie, VA 23841. Dr. Reverend Robert Rowland will officiate. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805, in Donnie’s name. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
