Donald Stanford Howlett

Donald Stanford Howlett, 85, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at John Randolph Medical Center with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter by his side. He was born and raised in Hopewell, VA and was one of three children. Donald started working at the ripe age of 11 and graduated from Hopewell High in 1952 where he enlisted in the United States Army until 1954 and retired after forty years at Allied Chemical. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Howlett and Louise Ennis. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Little Howlett; daughter, Deborah Gene Everett Barber; son-in-law, Jesse Lee Barber; granddaughter, Jessica Barber-Euresti and husband, Adan Euresti; grandson, Donald Barber and fiancée, Meredith Dean; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Barber, Cross Euresti, Lyric Barber, and Cash Euresti; four sisters-in-law, Peggy Peaden, Kay Smith, Geraldine Lewis, and Janie Jarman, and many nieces and nephews. Donald will be remembered as a self-taught determined man with a “can do attitude”, an avid learner, First Class Ham Operator, Banjo/Guitar player who loved fishing and could fix anything. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Dean, officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.
