Donald Samuel Miser, age 67, of Chester, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on December 25th, 2017. Don was born in LaPorte, Indiana, and as the oldest child in a large farming family, he learned the value of hard work and reliance at an early age. After school, he worked in steel manufacturing, with food production at American Home Foods, and finished his working career at Wyeth (Pfizer) Pharmaceuticals. Don has enjoyed his retirement years, engaging in his passions for cars and electronics. He was an active member of the Corvette Club of Richmond. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Eleanor Miser. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Miser, who was blessed to have shared his love and companionship for the last decade. He is also survived by his beloved children, Jeffrey Miser and Shannon Miser Carr; step-daughter, Andrea Makriyianis, and by grandchildren, Marissa, Brendan, and Jaycie Carr. He is also survived by brothers, Raymond, Gerry, and Ed Miser, and sisters, Leona Miser Kissinger and Mary Miser, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at St. John’s Episcopal Church located at 12201 Richmond Street, Chester, Virginia 23831, on Thursday, January 4th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
