Donald W. Parr Sr.

Donald W. Parr, Sr., 76, of Hopewell, died on Monday, December 9, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Decatur and Mabel Whitby Parr and a brother, Kenneth Wade Parr. Mr. Parr was a co-owner of Parr & Abernathy Realty, Inc. a member of the Hopewell-Prince George Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Board of Directors Hopewell Emergency Crew. He served as the past president of the Southside Board of Realtors as well as the past president of the Hopewell Kiwanis Club and a member of Downtown Partnership. He was a longtime member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. Mr. Parr is survived by his wife, Paige H. Parr; sons, Donald W. Parr, Jr. and wife, Diane, Michael K. Parr and wife, Jennifer, Kevin W. Parr and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Sean, Tyler, Amanda, Brooke, Taylor, MacKenzie; aunt, Lois Smith; nephew, Ty; nieces, Stephanie, Terri, Heather; sisters-in-law, Anita Olive and Ann Parr. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 401 N. 2nd Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Butler, officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
