Donna Louise Sklute

Donna Louise Sklute, daughter of Marie and Wesley Wells, passed September 21, 2013 at her home in Chester, Virginia. Born January 6, 1943 in Richmond, California; she is survived by her son, Jon Garmon and his wife, Catherine; son, Mark Garmon; daughter, Ami Garmon; sisters, Ellen Higgins and Anita Julian; and three grandchildren. Known to them as “Grandma D”, Eric, Rachel, and Joe loved spending time with her, playing cards and cooking while she regaled them with stories about her life and experiences. Everyone benefited from Donna’s sense of humor and her love. She was a voracious reader of literature and longtime patron of the Chesterfield Public Library. Her love for words included lengthy games of scrabble and New York Times crossword puzzles…which she seldom failed to complete. Donna graduated high school in 1960 in Wiesbaden, Germany. She traveled the continent before returning to the states. She maintained relationships with high school classmates from HH Arnold, and attended several reunions. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library, P.O. Box 4842, Midlothian, Virginia 23112-4842. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831.
