Donnie Lee Crew, age 43, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017. He was a longtime resident of Colonial Heights, VA, as well as Chesterfield, Charles City, and Bowling Green, VA. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and two children, Savannah and Cameron Crew all of Colonial Heights; his mother, Bonnie Crew of Bowling Green; his father, Donald “Donnie” Crew and fiancé, Lana Delano, of Sandston, VA; his brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Mandy Crew of Charles City; niece and nephew, Baylee and Jackson Crew also of Charles City; his maternal grandparents, Cleveland and Barbara Beazley of Bowling Green; aunts and uncle, Betty and Lewis Parsley, Barbara Parsley, and Patricia Smith of Mechanicsville, and numerous great-aunts and uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Ethel Crew of Richmond, VA. Donnie was a crafted mechanic as well as a great do-it yourselfer. He was co-owner of the Southern Star Restaurant in Chester for many years. He had an infectious smile and a joyous laugh that would light up a room. He had a tremendous love for his family and was so proud of his children. He was always willing to help others in their time of need. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace “Little Donnie.” A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
