Doris Cavin

Doris Sloop Cavin, 77, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2012 after a long illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Doris was born in Mooresville, North Carolina on January 1, 1935. She was a faithful Christian and longtime member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hopewell. Doris served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and choir director over the years at Nazareth. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. Doris retired from Allied Signal (Honeywell) in 1996. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joe William Cavin; and son, John Darren Cavin both of Hopewell; daughter, Luann Cavin Baronian and husband, Steven A. Baronian of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Harrison and Hayden Baronian also of Richmond; brothers, Phillip Sloop (wife Virginia), Jake Sloop (wife Lib); sisters, Kathryn Campell and Mary Helen Wilkinson; brother-in-law, Jerry Cavin; and sister-in-law, Frances Wagner all of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Vastine and Kate Sloop; brothers, Allen Sloop, and Jack Sloop (wife Margaret); sisters, Sara Karriker (husband Paul Lee), and Louise Phillips (husband Gene); brother-in-laws, Brooks Wilkinson, Terrell Campell, and Bob Wagner all of North Carolina. The family had a private funeral service on Monday, July 23 arranged by the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell.
