Doris Mae Jones Peck, 75, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. Born in Surry County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Nicholas F. Jones and Doris Thorne Jones. She was a retired bookkeeper and a lifelong member of Surry Baptist Church.
Mrs. Peck is survived by her loving husband, Dudley Lee Peck; two sons, Nicholas Lee â??Nickâ? Peck and wife, Brenda, of Richmond, and Melvin D. â??Melâ? Peck of Newport News; one daughter, Arlene Peck Ray of Mechanicsburg, PA; son-in-law, R. William Barnes; one sister, Nancy J. Drewry and husband, James, of Seaford, VA; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Anne Barnes, and a brother, Thomas Franklin Jones.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Surry. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Surry Vol. Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 188, Surry, VA 23883. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be posted at www.jtmorriss.com .
