Dorrie Peedle Cox, 44, of Spring Grove, formerly of Battery Park, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in Medical College of Virginia Hospital. She was born in Detroit, MI and had been a resident of this area since 1979. Mrs. Cox was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, an American Red Cross Volunteer, Vice-President of the Ladies Auxillary Burrowsville Fire Dept. and a Clerk in the U.S. Post Office. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Elizabeth Wooster Peedle. Mrs. Cox was a loving and caring wife and mother, a comfort to everyone she met. Surviving are her husband, William Nash Cox, one son, Nash Dennis Cox, both of Spring Grove, one daughter, Margaret Cox Winner of Hopewell, 2 grandchildren, Austin Giroux and Madison Winner, her father, Fred Peedle of Troy, MI, three brothers, Keith Peedle, Steve Peedle, both of Concord, CA and Fred Peedle of Smithfield, VA. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 29, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday, April 30, 2004 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Doug Forrester, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County.
