Doris Demaris Pittman Rainey

Doris DeMaris Pitman Rainey, 89, of Dinwiddie, widow of Oris Marion Rainey, Sr., passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Born and raised in Northumberland County, Doris graduated from Westhampton College and moved to Dinwiddie where she taught in the public school system for several years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Kincaid Pitman, Jr. and Claudia Odell Pitman; a son, Marion “Buck” Rainey, Jr.; and a grandson, Justin Rainey. She is survived by a son, Robert Rainey and wife, Jennifer; daughter-in-law, Denise Kilmon Glass; grandchildren, Travis Rainey and wife, Jessica, Erin Rainey, Sarah Rainey, Katelyn Rainey and Marian Rainey, and a great-grandson, Nolan Rainey. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, with Pastor Robert Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at the Rainey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
