Dorothy Ann Holleman Caudle, 92, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, August 05, 2016. A lifelong resident of Petersburg, she was preceded in death by her parents, Cossie H. and Rosena Landrum Holleman, and her husband of 57 years, James E. Caudle. Mrs. Caudle retired from Fort Lee as an Illustrator and then worked alongside her husband for many years. Together, they operated King’s Barbecue #1 on W. Washington Street and Mayfield Inn, where she met many interesting people. She had many hobbies, including needlepoint, cross stitch, knitting, photography, art, gardening, and travel, and was involved in the restoration of several historic properties. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church and a member of the A&G Needlework Guild. Mrs. Caudle is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Caudle Phillingane and husband, Louis, of Petersburg; cousins, Camilla Shepardson of Richmond, Pat Linton and husband, Charles of Fredericksburg, and Charles Francis Holleman and wife, Rhoda of West Lafayette, IN; sister-in-law, Jeanette Miller, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Dawson, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral service.
