Dorothy Chambliss-Fleming was born September 5, 1937, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. She was the youngest of her siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.
With farewell words unspoken and her faith in God unspoken, Dorothy - "Dot," as she was affectionately known to close family and friends, went home to be with her God on the evening of Monday, November 13, 2023, in her home surrounded by love.
Dorothy received her early education in the Dinwiddie County school system. At an early age she accepted Christ.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Red Hat Society. She was employed by Virginia State University Office of Student Accounts from which she retired.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Nathaniel B. Fleming II (deceased). To this union two sons were born.
Dorothy was known for baking her many delicious cakes, pies, and corn pudding. The holidays were really her time of year for baking.
She leaves to cherish her many memories of two loving sons, Ronald C. Fleming and Nathaniel "Nat" Fleming III; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, devoted neighbors, and other friends. A special thanks to all her care givers, Terica King, Joy Miller, Monica Morgan, Shonte Morgan, Nyecca Neal, Tunisha Sykes, Sydney Utsey, Aungel Walker, and Sherri Wilson.
The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16, 2023 as well as on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at at Southlawn Memorial Park on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
