Dorothy Hawley Ivey

Dorothy Hawley Ivey, 84, of Chester, VA passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin E. and Cassie I. Hawley; her loving husband of 64 years, Max Omer Ivey; and a son, Larry Wayne Ivey. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne I. Townes (Charles) and Joan A. Ivey; grandchildren, Steven R. Ivey and Cassie E. Ivey (fiancée Alec); a brother, Melvin E. Hawley, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jeanette King (David); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and her precious dog Penny. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends and serving her community as well as her church. She was an avid vegetable gardener and she enjoyed duck pin bowling and the fellowship of her teammates. Dorothy was a selfless, caring and loving soul; her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice 3916 S.
