Dorothy (“Dot”, “Dodo”, “Dottie”) Miller, 87, went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 22, 2017. She was the daughter of John Vetter and Veronika Kovalchick Vetter of Brownsville, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Carl Miller, and children Jeannie Goodyear (Tommy), Cathy Ghidotti (Mike), Chip Miller (Max) and Christy Robinson (Wally); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sisters Ceil Harmon, Tina Pitek, Vera Dando and Evelyn Mohney and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, four sisters and one brother, and newborn son, Carl Miller.
Dot received her degree in Nursing from John Tyler Community College in 1972. She was a critical care nurse who directed the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Petersburg General Hospital, now Southside Regional.
Dot was actively involved in the Catholic Church, initially in the St. Joseph Catholic Church and later The Church of the Sacred Heart Parish, both in Petersburg, her home for over 60 years. She later joined the St. Ann Catholic Church in Colonial Heights. Her faith was always an integral part of her life and provided her with great solace.
A Rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 103 S. Adams St., Petersburg, VA 23803. A funeral Mass will be held at The Church of the Sacred Heart Parrish, 9300 Community Lane, Petersburg at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. You are invited to join the family for a reception at the church immediately following the service. A private burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Richmond.
