Dorothy Ann Newton

Dorothy "Dot" Ann Newton, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 20, 2024. She was born to the late Joseph and Dorothy Hanchey and raised in Chesterfield, VA. She graduated from Thomas Dale High School, and worked diligently for over 30 years at the Virginia Game Commission, as secretary to the Chief of Law Enforcement. She was known to enjoy a round of golf and loved nature, flowers, and gardening. She is remembered fondly as a loving wife, caring mother, and devoted friend to many. She is survived by her adoring husband of 56 years, Donald "Donnie" Newton; her daughter, Sheila Sayne; her three grandchildren in Tampa, FL; and her brothers, Joe and Bobby Hanchey. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 2:00 P.M., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with interment at Sunset Memorial Park immediately following. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
