Dorothy Lee Day Parsons

Dorothy Lee Day “Dot” Parsons, 90, of Petersburg, VA passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Coach Roland and Catherine Day; her loving husband, Jesse Heath Parsons, Jr.; and a sister, Margaret West. She is survived by her children, Roland Parsons and Gayle Murman (Paul); grandchildren, Catherine Ames (J. Frederick, Jr.), Susan Murman; sister, Carolyn Russell (Dr.William); numerous extended family and friends. Dorothy was a member of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church and a honorary member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. She was very proud of reaching the age of 90 and would readily share her accomplishment with anyone. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, friend; and animal lover. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester VA 23831. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church 12201 Richmond St, Chester, VA 23831.
