Dorothy Adell Archer Pelikan

Dorothy Pelikan, 95, a longtime resident of Chester, Virginia died peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2016 in Fort Gaines Nursing Home, near one of her daughters. She was born on October 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Robert Archer and Hettie Matthews and a member of Chester Baptist Church of Chester, Virginia for over fifty years. She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Pelikan, Caryl Munford, and Linda Pelikan; one sister, Ruby Barham; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Homer Pelikan; a daughter, Peggy Louise Archer Pelikan; by two brothers, Joseph Archer and Eddie Archer; and one grandchild. She was a strong presence and an awesome lady, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School St. Chester, VA 23831. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
