Douglas Elwood Synan Sr.

Douglas Elwood Synan Sr., 83, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was the son of the late Daniel and Lestie Perdue Synan; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Synan. Mr. Synan was a devout member of Family Worship and Praise Center in Hopewell. He was a United States Army veteran and had retired from Firestone after 36 years of service. Doug was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Synan; a daughter, Danita Synan-Kollman; two sons, Dennis Synan (Marie) and Douglas “D.J.” Synan Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Dustin and Caitlynn Warden, Dallas, Christian and Danielle Synan; four great-grandchildren, Cayden, Jonah, Drake and Kinley; a brother, David Synan (Hendell); a step-son, Jared Vazquez; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
