Theodore C. Andrew, MD a longtime resident of Hopewell, VA passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007. He was in the private practice of medicine and surgery in the Medical Arts Building on Hopewell Street for 56 years. He joined the staff of John Randolph Medical Center in 1952 and served as Chief of Staff in 1966 and from 1974 through 1976. He was also the Chairman of Continuing Medical Education for John Randolph for 20 years from 1966 to 1986. Dr. Andrew attended New York University for his undergraduate studies and graduated from Kansas City University in Missouri where he received his M.D. degree in 1941. Dr. Andrew was also a former Medical Director of the Park Avenue Hospital in Norton, VA and a member of the Hopewell Medical Society, Southside Virginia Medical Society where he served as President in 1984 thru 1985 and the Medical Society of Virginia. He also became a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society in 1959. Dr. Andrew was born in Missoula, Montana and was raised in New Haven, CT. He was the son of the late Constantine Theodore and Penelope Makaritou Andreopolous who were both born in the Peloponnese region of Greece. In 1955, he married Aphrodite (Freda) Palans of Burlington, VT. He was the father of a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Constantine T. Andrew, MD of Moorestown, NJ and a daughter Penelope T. Andrew of New York City. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Leia P. Andrew and Theodore C. Andrew and a nephew Theodore Drott of Abbeville, LA. Trisagion Prayers will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends following the Prayers until 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery immediately following the service. Guests are invited to join the family for a reception at 1:30PM at the Jordan Point Country Club.
