Dudley Lee Peck, 86, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011. Lee was a native of Surry County. After serving in the Army during World War II, Lee went to work for Gwaltney & Seward Motor Company. He ended his career by doing small engine repair out of his workshop. He was a member of Surry United Methodist Church.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae Jones Peck; and a daughter, Carol Ann Peck Barnes. He is survived by two sons, Nicholas Lee Peck and his wife, Brenda of Richmond, and Melvin Dudley Peck of Newport News; a daughter, Nancy Arlene Peck Ray of Surry, a son-in-law, Ralph William Barnes of Richmond; three grandchildren, Wendy Carol Barnes McClure and her husband, Roger, Joseph Lee Barnes, and Christie (Forrest) Freeman; three great grandchildren, Braxton, John and Cole; and two sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Surry.
