Duncan Eldorado Liles, Sr.

February 8, 1948 — March 3, 2023

Duncan Eldorado Liles, Sr., 75, of Dewitt, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmont and Ruby Liles and his brother, Jerry Liles.

Duncan graduated from Dinwiddie High School before attending Richard Bland and St. Leo's College. He served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam during the time of the Tet Offensive. After returning home, Duncan worked at both Brown & Williamson Tobacco as well as in civil service at Ft. Lee before ultimately retiring from the Dinwiddie County Public School System, where he enjoyed helping students obtain their GED.

Duncan was a charter member of Rocky Run Ruritan Club and a faithful member and attendee of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He also co-founded Lemon Ball in 1954, a game passed down to his family and still played to this day.

Duncan was a loyal attendee at all of his children and grandchildren's events. He was also a dedicated coach within the community, including Rocky Run baseball, Dinwiddie National All-Star teams, Dinwiddie recreation girls' softball, and McKenney boys' basketball. After coaching, he spent time as an umpire for youth baseball. He always enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and listening to them on the radio in his youth.

More than anything, Duncan loved spending time with the love of his life, his wife, Ada, his children, and especially his grandchildren. He was a certified "GOAT" before there was a "G.O.A.T" on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Duncan will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Duncan is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ada Avery Liles; children, Duncan Liles Jr. and wife Tammy, and Betsy Chester and husband Mike; grandchildren, Owen Liles, Luke Chester, Connor Liles, Ashby Chester, and Ian Liles; and brother, Richard "Dickie" Liles and wife Mary Ann.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son - Dinwiddie Chapel, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 142, McKenney, VA 23872.
