Earl "Dusty" Gilbert Stoner III, of everywhere (born Kokomo, IN), and anywhere (North Chesterfield, VA) with stops in Guam, California, the Far East, etc., was called to eternal rest, on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was a military dependent and enjoyed experiencing new adventures.
Dusty is survived by his son, Dylan (Alexis Karol); mother, Darlene Gofigan; sisters, Thea Stoner, of FL, and Cathy (Richard) Gofigan, of TX; brothers, John (Tiffany) Gofigan, of TX, and Jonathan Gofigan (Christy Marsh), of VA; and his nephews, Corey (Brandi) Jones, and Travis (Heather) Jones, of PA. He had a niece he has never met, Jasmine Gofigan, of TX; and his pals and best buddies were his niece, Annabelle Gofigan; and nephew, Alexander Gofigan, of VA. Annabelle and Dusty "raced" each other down the driveway. Dusty on his scooter and Annabelle in her wheelchair. ❤️ His ex-wife, Angela McCormick, was still a friend.
He will be met at the heavenly gates by his biological father, Earl G. Stoner, Jr.; the step-father who raised him, Juan N. Gofigan; brother, William Jones; grandmother, Hilda Lewis; and uncle, Orval Lewis.
Dusty was born with a congenital heart issue, but never let it control his life. He didn't want the focus to be on his health. He was a dedicated, loyal worker at whatever position he held in the workforce. He would work until his body gave out and he became ill. He was a fighter. He fought his heart battle, and won more than once, but this time his stubbornness and thinking he could overcome his condition did not work in his favor. Dusty was selfless, and did not want others to do much to help him, his independence was evident in his actions, as he never wanted to be a burden to anyone. He loved people, and loved making others smile, while trying to divert attention from him.
Dusty loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, and attended several games in Pittsburgh, and watched every game on TV.
Dusty's love and memories will be missed and cherished in the hearts of his family.
We would like to thank the heart ❤️ doctors, nurses, and staff at both Chippenham and VCU hospitals for the care they provided him. Our sincere thanks.
