Earl Conrad Englehart, Jr., 74 years young, boarded his trusty Cessna 172 to begin his journey to the afterlife on October 17, 2009 (minus a few body parts, which he left behind in order to save other lives). Waiting to greet him at his destination are his parents, Earl C. Englehart, Sr. and Julia Melada Englehart. On the runway to send him off are his beautiful wife of 40 years, Diana Shaffer Englehart; his lovely daughter, Elyse Englehart Jennings; his trusted son-in-law, David â??DJâ? Jennings; and his beloved grandson and wingman, Jackson Conrad Jennings. Other well-wishers include his brother, Ronald Englehart; his beloved mother-in-law, Jean Shaffer; sisters-in-law, Charlene (Mike â??Moâ?) Marinchak, Linda Bates, and Jeannie Bolton; his brother-in-law, Chuck (Sheila) Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl proudly served in the United States Army as a field radio mechanic, stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany from 1954 â?? 1956. His earthly passions included flying, cooking (and eating), winemaking, recycling old things into â??newâ? things, (he always said he was â??greenâ? before â??greenâ? was cool) researching WWII events, laughing, and being a loving husband, father, and PapPap. Earlâ??s loved ones will entertain other well-wishers at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. His final earthly landing will take place at Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township, PA.
