Earl Kelly Martin

Earl K. Martin, 78, of DeWitt, died at his residence on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Mr. Martin was born in Ballard, West Virginia. A son of the late Charlie D. and Rosie Z. Martin. He was in US Navy from 1964 - 1968 stationed on the USS Meredith. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bobby, Leroy, and Charles. He worked at Brown and Williams Tobacco Company for 19 years. After he was laid off, he worked at Johnson Construction at Fort Lee. He retired in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Helen S. Martin; daughters, Jennifer Martin and Kellie Duckworth (David); granddaughter, Taryn Cone (Saran Kaur), Ashley Duckworth (Kivonte), and Nicole Duckworth; great-granddaughter, Thea Cone; great-grandson, Dior Wade; and brother, Jerry Martin (Laura).

He loved doing yardwork and keeping his place looking great. Sometimes “parking” the tractor in a ditch. He loved spending time with grandkids and great- grandkids. He was a very devoted husband to his wife, taking time off work to take care for her in her times of need. He would always tell her he loved her, and she was “the hostess with the mostess.” He loved to joke and pick on people, and, for some people, they didn’t know how to take it.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com .
