Eddie “Mr. Ed,” Franklin Hazzard, 85 of Hopewell Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 8, 2018.
Preceded in death by his wife Jean Duesberry Hazzard, parents, Ray and Florence Hazzard, Charles and Florence King, brothers Charles King, Jackie King and Kenny Hazzard.
Survived by sons, Brian Hazzard (Cherie) and Chris Hazzard (Denise) Brothers; James King (Becky), Johnnie King (Anita), Lewis Hazzard (Nancy), Terry Hazzard and Frankie Hazzard. Sisters; Doshie King Powell and Cathy Hazzard Christopher (Randall).Grandfather “PePaw” of Teresa Hazzard Mitchell, Brenda Hazzard Murray and Kevin Hazzard; Great-Grandfather of Jordan Carter and Junior Murray, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and his Trinity United Methodist Church and Choir family.
Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1957. He worked in numerous fields, from sales, construction and management. He also owned and operated “Wicker & Wood” a small retail shop in Hopewell, Virginia. Retired from Ukrops. Joined Trinity United Methodist Church in March of 1970 where he was a member of the Chancer Choir. Before his latest illness was involved in many church activities, functions and fundraisers. He loved the Pumpkin Patch, the annual yard sale and making the Brunswick Stew.
The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Hopewell Chapel on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2901 Norfolk Street, Hopewell, Virginia
Interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers Eddie requested contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 6600 Greenyard Road, Chester, Virginia 23831.
