Edgar Early Martin, 88, formerly of S. 14th Avenue, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in Lucy Corr Village, Chesterfield County. He was born in Dinwiddie County and had been a resident of the Hopewell area for many years. Mr. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII, a member of VFW Post 637-Hopewell, Woodman of the World, BEECH Camp #264 and was a retired Postman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory Early and Eunice Potts Martin, his wife, Mry Roscopf Martin, a daughter, Carol J. Martin, grandson, L.G. Spence, III and 2 brothers, Lloyd C. Martin and Carl Martin. Mr. Martin is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Young and her husband Norman of Fredericksburg, VA, Ellen M. Spence and her husband Pete of Salisbury, MD, two sons, Gary L. Martin of Los Angeles, CA, Dennis R. Martin and his wife Carmen of Chester, 3 grandchildren, Cameron, Wendy and Troy Spence, four sisters, Bertha M. Bryant of Manassas, VA, Thelma M. Vaughan of Chesapeake, VA, Miriam M. Bryant of Colonial Heights, VA and Irene M. Dellinger of Manassas, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 29, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be held Monday, August 30, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in City Point National Cemetery.
