Edith Greene Henderson

Edith Greene Henderson, 99, passed away March 18, 2017. She was one of eight children born to Robert Edward and Laura Grizzell Briscoe Greene of Gates, NC. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Love Holland, husband, James Henderson, and a granddaughter, Angela Baines Lively. A longtime member of Second Baptist Church, Mrs. Henderson retired from Macy’s after 35 years of employment. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Baines (Ben) and Linda Wells (Carl), two grandchildren, Cathy Roper (Phil) and Todd Wells (Kim), two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Roper and Lauren Wells, and a sister, Louise Whitt. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Second Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Joseph Lewis, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Holly Lawn Cemetery, 1525 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.
