Edith Irene Overby

Edith Irene Overby, 89, of Dinwiddie County, VA, died May 10, 2023. She was born in Charlie Hope, VA, on December 13, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Lossie Melvin Edmonds and Susie Marie Lambert Edmonds. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She devoted her life to her family unselfishly. She was a Godly woman who depended heavily on her faith to subdue everyday challenges. Even through all her own struggles physically she always inspired others around her with her smile and genuine compassion. She carried a kind and loving spirit wherever she went. She loved the Lord and passed on to everyone she met the compassion and love that God has given us.

Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Herbert Overby, Jr., of 56 years; and her two brothers, James and Billy Edmonds. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Soloe; children, Sylvia Marie Elder (Jimmy), Cynthia Lee Tereschenko, Loretta Gail Jones (Jeff), David Wayne Overby (Cari), Edith Yvonne Overby, and Kathleen Starr Overby; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Dinwiddie Chapel, 6616 Boydton Plank Road. The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park for family only.
