Edna Campbell May

Edna Campbell May, 83, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, George C. and Lula Creasy Campbell; her loving husband of 33 years, William "Bill" F. May; and her six siblings. Edna was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1957. In 1982 she graduated from Saint Leo College with an Associate of Arts. Edna retired from civil service at Fort Lee on October 3, 1998, as a technical editor. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cross stitching, sewing, puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of her church and served on the altar guild. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Shell (Jay); son, William D. "Monty" May (Traci-Lyn); granddaughter, Lindsay Brockwell (Kristine); grandsons, Brian Johnson (Jessica), Beckett May, Ronan May; sister, Debbie Thomas; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. A special thanks to her caregivers, Karen and Tiffany for their care and support given. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer 1769 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, VA 23805 with interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the church or Gentiva Hospice.
