Edna Flowers Shearin, 87, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Born in Meherrin, VA she was the daughter of the late Milton and Florence Townsend Flowers; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Willie Smith Shearin; and a brother, Eugene Flowers. Mrs. Shearin was a charter member of Calvary’s Love Ministries in Hopewell and had retired from the City of Hopewell as a data processor. She enjoyed crafting, painting, music and dancing and was known to be a hard worker. Mrs. Shearin will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Carmel S. Blake and husband, Gus; one son, Sean S. “Rocky” Shearin and wife, Kim; two grandchildren, Joshua G. Blake and Brittany N. Shearin; a sister, Dorothy Sculthorpe; a brother-in-law, Jessie M. Shearin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Calvary’s Love Ministries with her son, Pastor Rocky Shearin, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m. at the church. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary’s Love Ministries, 118 S. 11th Ave., Hopewell, VA 23860 in memory of Edna Shearin. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
