Edna Lee Stophel Stevens, 86, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Charles and Mamie Lee Moore Stophel, and was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Stevens, Sr.; a daughter, Rhonda L. Stevens; and two brothers, John and Ernest Stophel A native a of Eden, N.C. she later made her home in Hopewell, VA in 1963. She was retired from Allied Chemical and was an active member of Buford Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Stevens is survived by three sons, Curtis F. Stevens (Darlene) of Dinwiddie, William E. Stevens, Jr. (Tricia) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Phillip C. Stevens (Carol) of Hopewell; five grandchildren, Beth Stevens of Dinwiddie, Chris Dement (Jeff) of Midland, NC, Teri Barringer (Leonard) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Kenny Stevens of Hopewell, Chip Stevens (Leslie) of Chesterfield; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Mason Dement, Turner Barringer; four brothers, Charles Stophel (Mary) of Cascade, VA, Paul Stophel (Bonnie) of Eden, NC, Wayne Stophel (Martha) of Eden, NC, and Garry Stophel (Suzanne) of Henrico, NC; three sisters, Margie Frazier, Ruby West (Ralph), Linda Fargis (Ronald) all of Eden, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday at Buford Road Baptist Church, 819 Buford Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23235, with the Rev. Tony Kohout officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
