Edward Brock Carraway

July 4, 1956 — May 31, 2024

Edward Brock Carraway, 67, passed away on May 31, 2024, in the village of Buxton, NC, where he found peace and felt at home. Born on July 4, 1956, in Hopewell, VA, Eddie's life was marked by his love for God, his love of family, and his passion for fishing.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Frances Lovell Carraway, of Chester, VA; his daughter, Julia Newsome and her husband, Kenny; his sister, Brenda Mager and her husband, Dave; his brother, James "Butch" Carraway and his wife, Elisa; his nephew, James "Tripp" Carraway and his wife, Suzanna, along with their children, Charlotte and James "Jay"; and niece, Kendall Carraway Saunders and her husband, Chip, and their daughter, Maddie; and his godson, Michael Vanwyck.

A proud member of the Boilermakers Local 45 out of Richmond, Eddie was known for his exceptional skills. Eddie was also a first-class carpenter, he had the patience and skill to build anything he wanted. His craftsmanship was matched only by his love for fishing, a passion he nurtured from a young age with his father Jamie and his brother Butch, fishing from Nags Head to Hatteras.

Eddie was married for 30 years to his wife, Frances, they both shared a love for the beach and fishing. He loved his daughter, Julia, and often spoke of her to friends and family. Eddie had a great sense of humor and love for pranks, often targeting his sister, Brenda, with his playful antics. His kind heart and willingness to help others, reminiscent of his late brother, Tommy, left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James, Sr. and Frances Carraway; and his brother, Tommy.

Services to honor Eddie's life will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
