Edward Elson Crafton Sr.

Edward Elson Crafton, Sr., 77, of Prince George, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Born in Lunenburg County, VA he was the son of the late Cabel and Audie Russell Crafton; and was also preceded in death by two brothers; and a great-granddaughter. Mr. Crafton retired from Hercules after 44 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, loved NASCAR and working on cars. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed helping others whenever he could. Mr. Crafton was affectionately known to many as “Red” and “PaPa”. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Crafton; four children, Lee Ann Hines (Freddie Lee), Leroy Wallace (Sherri), Freddy Crafton (Yvonne) and Eddie Crafton; grandchildren, Michele Vuono (Tommy), Terry Overby (Mark), Sherry Bowers (Tim), Crystal Hines (B.J.), John Crafton (Brittany), Lacy Crafton, Jessica Overby, Noah Crafton (Savannah), Wesley Wallace (Shana) and William Wallace; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Crafton; a sister, Anna Ruth Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
