Edward Elmer Jeter, 82, of Dinwiddie, passed away on September 13, 2012. He was the son of the late Richard E. Jeter and Ruby Hoverstock Chappell. He was preceded in death by one brother A. Kennon Jeter. Elmer was a charter member of the Rowanta Hunt Club, a 50 year member of the Dinwiddie Ruritan Club, member of the Dinwiddie American Legion Post #149, former volunteer for the Dinwiddie Rescue Squad, and attended Crawford United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Stainback Jeter; three children, Debbie J. Riggan (Bob), William S. Jeter (Valerie) and Karen Jeter Slade; five grandchildren, Sara (Nathan), Erin, Nichole, Lauren and Emily; one great-grandson, John Marshall; and a brother, Glenn F. Chappell. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
